Grafting Enhances Bacterial Wilt Resistance in Peppers

چکیده

Ralstonia solanacearum is a causative agent of bacterial wilt and therefore poses serious threat to cultivated peppers (Capsicum annuum L.). Although attempts have been made control by grafting, the disease resistance mechanisms that protect grafted are poorly understood. Here, we grew composed rootstock Buyeding or Weishi scion Xinfeng 2. Following infection R. solanacearum, assessed differences in lipid peroxidation, cellular structure, root secondary metabolism, biomass, between plants controls. The exhibited greater biomass than after infection. cell ultrastructure showed only slight injury relative controls, roots were partially resistant solanacearum. Grafted pepper lower levels peroxidation. Lignin content, salicylic acid levels, activities phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL), peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT), polyphenol oxidase (PPO), also higher plants. All these effects occurred concomitantly with increased resistance. Taken together, our findings demonstrate grafting can significantly improve pepper. Moreover, results suggest may be very useful for prevention peppers.

Enhancement of bacterial wilt resistance and rhizosphere health in tomato using bionanocomposites

Biological control agents are useful components in the enhancement of plant disease resistance and improvement of soil properties. Effect of biological control agents (BCAs) as a disease control method in plants is hampered by their vulnerability to environmental and edaphic conditions. This study entailed the use of chitosan-silica nanocomposites for delivery of BCAs. Effect of BCAs-nanocompos...

Virus Disease Resistance in Peppers

In certain localities within the state par ticular viruses may cause more damage than others. In central Florida tobacco etch, to bacco mosaic, and potato Y viruses were most frequently encountered by Anderson and Corbett (1). Simons (15, 17) found the cu cumber mosaic and potato Y viruses most detrimental in south Florida. Occurrence of the latter disease has been correlated with potato produc...

Heterologous Expression of the Cotton NBS-LRR Gene GbaNA1 Enhances Verticillium Wilt Resistance in Arabidopsis

Verticillium wilt caused by Verticillium dahliae results in severe losses in cotton, and is economically the most destructive disease of this crop. Improving genetic resistance is the cleanest and least expensive option to manage Verticillium wilt. Previously, we identified the island cotton NBS-LRR-encoding gene GbaNA1 that confers resistance to the highly virulent V. dahliae isolate Vd991. In...

Pathotypes of Bacterial Spot Pathogen Infecting Capsicum Peppers in Korea

Sixty-seven isolates of bacterial spot pathogen (Xanthomonas spp.) collected from six provinces of Korea were tested for the identification of their pathotypes and determination of their distribution throughout Korea in an effort to genetically manage the disease. Near isogenic lines of Early Calwonder (Capsicum annuum) pepper plants carrying Bs1 , Bs2 and Bs3 , and PI235047 (C. pubescens) were...

Bioorganic Fertilizer Enhances Soil Suppressive Capacity against Bacterial Wilt of Tomato

Tomato bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum is one of the most destructive soil-borne diseases. Many strategies have been taken to improve soil suppressiveness against this destructive disease, but limited success has been achieved. In this study, a novel bioorganic fertilizer revealed a higher suppressive ability against bacterial wilt compared with several soil management methods i...
